KLUSON TREMOLO BRIDGE REVIEW
If you are looking for more info on this bridge, here is the full lowdown with tons of photos. I Myself has always been curious about these bridges.. so i bagged one cheap at half price from a closure sale.
This bridge can more or less be said to be a carbon copy of Fender’s original, and i only suspected it to be,
I would say this bridge has a couple improvements but also lack some of the feature of the Pure Vintage bridges from Fender. This is the KVTSC version in review. (C being Chrome)
THE BLOCK:
Starting off with the block. This think is actually BETTER made than fender.
Flawless drilled and the finish is better powder coated.
It is not deep drilled and measures about 5.5mm This is the same as Callaham
The threading on Arm and Block is very good and has tight tollerance. This means there is little wiggle in the arm, but
as usual, it it not super tight.
It does come with the spring
TREMOLO PLATE:
Its almost exactly the same as Fender. Same drilling, hole position, thickness and bevel. The same crude design
Not much else to put on it other than Kluson actually offers the plate in Nickel as well. Far as i can tell, the only one that do so. This bridge will age fully with the saddles.
Big plus that they come with long, good quality Stainless Steel mounting screws.
SADDLES:
Very much the same as Fender in shape and how they are bent. But the chrome is not polished to brilliant finish and are less shinier than Fender. Stamped with KLUSON on them
Negative part about the saddles is that they feature eaqual length intonation springs and screws. Fender offers shorter springs on Low E and G-Saddle because they always intonate further bacjk than others. ogten resulting in cutting them shorter to get them further back.
Kluson also equipps only lower grub height screws on the outer saddles. Fender offers 3 heights to follow the radius more even without poking out too much.
I would have a longer punch on the slots of the saddles. They feel a bit short.
IN USE:
I will follow up this review on how it performs. As i am writing this, i am only few days from a long journey to Manila. I will stay there for a few months and i will not bring this bridge along. So far it will stay here while im over there. Review will follow as soon as i come back.
